On Feb 14th and 15th were the last 2 days for the LC-130 Hercules to fly to the South Pole. If you don't wanna be here for the winter, you better made sure you got on
one of these planes :) In just 2 days the station population went from about 150 to 49. Most of the winter-overs will come out to the flight deck to say goodbye and
then the last planes will perform a low level flyby and wave with their wings
With the last plane leaving winter officially begins, no more flights until end of October or early November, depending on the weather.
