Antonov Biplane

In January 2002 the Russian Biplane came to the Pole but due to engine problems wasn't able to start again. Since then the plane was sitting outside at our cargo berms.
After several political obstacles a team of Russian mechanics came in before New Year and started to replace the engine, instruments etc. After successful test flights the Antonov was flown back to McMurdo where it was dismantled and put aboard an Ilyushin 76 cargo plane which took it back to Russia.
